Slym B. was born and raised in Jonesboro, Louisiana on "Dewey
Street". He started rapping, writing his own lyrics, and taking
music seriously at an early age by making mixtapes on tape
recorders and recording songs off the local radio stations. While
growing up in a small town, most kids grew up wanting to be
athletes; but Slym B. knew that he was different and always
had a strong interest in music. He grew up on music in the
late 90's around the time when No Limit, Cash Money,
Swisha House, and Death Row took over the game in the
area he lived in; but as he progressed into his teen
years he started to go back and listen to the old school
greats such as (Eric B. & Rakim, NWA, Geto Boys) and
artists with lyrical content such as (Lupe Fiasco,
Canibus, Bizzy Bone, Scarface, and etc.). He knew that
music was one of the reasons why GOD put him on
earth. Living in an area where losing loved ones
became ordinary, made Slym B.'s confidence dim at
times on the path to success. Growing up as a teenager
lost in the world, gradually losing faith, and doing
wrong things made Slym B.'s life go in a different and
horrible direction with a run in with the law. During his
short period of time being in jail, he learned some very
important things while killing time and reading the
Bible. He found out that he could do anything as long he
kept "trust, faith, and obedience" in GOD. He kept his
head held high during that time and didn't give up.
When released from jail, back-to-back blessings were
lined up for Slym B. He released various mixtapes and
CDs, and DJ'd for every type of crowd you can imagine.
He recently released his Volume 3 addition to his official
"Streets Wanna Know" mixtape series hosted by
himself with exclusive music from artists such as Lil'
Boosie, Wild Yella, and T-Pain. At 19 years old, Slym B.,
is one of the youngest members of the Slip-N-Slide DJ's.
Receiving phone calls from mixtape artists every week,
he currently has 14 mixtapes in the process. Aside
from hosting mixtapes and being a DJ, Slym B. is also
making an impact in other aspects of music. He is the
co-executive producer of Payso's new underground
album courtesy of Southern Shine Records.
